Halifax (March 1, 2013) – Members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU/NUPGE), employed by the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC), have reached an interim agreement. The three-year collective agreement will take effect from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020. On March 7, 2019, Dalhousie University`s Board of Governors ratified a new collective agreement between Dalhousie University and the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 77. The agreement was ratified by 77 members on 27 February 2019. «We are very pleased to have reached this interim agreement,» said Joan Jessome, President of NSGEU. «Chief Negotiator Neil McNeil, Commissioner Nicole McKim and the Negotiating Committee worked hard to secure an offer they could recommend for membership.» NSLC staff provide Nova Scotians with quality service in stores, distribution warehouses and behind-the-scenes administrative offices. The negotiating committee recommends the adoption of the new treaty. «We also appreciate and want to recognize the respectful tone the employer has had during our negotiations,» says Jessome. NSGEU Local 77 represents approximately 850 administrative and technical support staff at Dalhousie University. The union`s bargaining committee recommends adoption. In the coming weeks, there will be a postal vote for the majority of members whose deadline has not yet been set.
Members who work at NSLC headquarters vote in the workplace, with a fixed duration and location.
